How does an election take place?

Receipt of the invitation letter. A little before the elections, we receive a letter of invitation in your mailbox. This invitation will give you the address and number of the polling station where you can go on June 9. Don’t forget to take this letter with you to go vote!

Go to the polling station. On election day, you must go to the polling station mentioned on your invitation between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the case of paper voting, and until 4 p.m. in the case of electronic voting. Once there, the voter is invited to queue up to the voting booth. Before entering, an assessor receives the summons and the identity card before giving three ballot papers, one for each election.

In the voting booth. In the voting booth, you have to fill out your ballot papers by checking boxes. Voting perhaps for a list, one or more candidates from the same party.

By voting for the entire list, you implicitly validate the order of succession of the candidates. All “head of list” votes will thus go to the first candidate until he has received enough votes to be elected. The votes will then go to the second candidate, then the third and so on. Conversely, a vote for one or more candidates will favor the candidate(s) in question.

The urns. When you leave the voting booth, the ballot paper must be slipped into the ballot box provided for this purpose. An assessor then returns your identity card and your letter of invitation marked with a stamp to demonstrate that the person has voted.
