The Independent Union of Public Sector Doctors (SIMSP) has announced a national warning strike for Thursday and Friday November 7 and 8, 2024, mobilizing all health institutions with the exception of emergency and intensive care services. . Through this action, the union intends to denounce what it describes as the absence of concrete guarantees to preserve the status of “ full-fledged public servant” doctors, as well as the refusal of the authorities to increase their salaries.
In a press release, the SIMSP deplores the progressive disengagement of the government from its commitments, particularly in light of the recent provisions of the 2025 finance law. The latter now obliges health groups to assume the financing of the salaries of the personnel, a burden which, according to the union, should fall on the general state budget. The SIMSP considers that this measure constitutes a flagrant violation of the legal guarantees protecting the rights and acquired rights of health professionals.
The union also deplores the government’s persistent refusal to respond to repeated calls for dialogue, despite previous agreements relating to demands with a financial impact as well as guarantees of the status of agents in the sector. “ The adoption of decisions and laws without consultation demonstrates a desire to impose a fait accompli, thus endangering the achievements of workers in the health sector », He underlines in his press release.
As a sign of protest, the union also decided to suspend the issuance of certain certificates, such as certificates of fitness to drive and other medical certificates, except for work stoppages justified by medical treatment. He also announced a boycott of similar programs.
The SIMSP also plans to boycott the school health campaign, which it considers to lack minimum medical and administrative standards, as well as the surgical campaigns “ random », which, according to him, respect neither medical standards nor safety conditions for patients. This protest movement also includes refusal to participate in medical caravans, non-medical administrative tasks, periodic reports, as well as beneficiary registers.
In addition, the union announced its intention to suspend all collection of statistics, with the exception of notifiable disease notifications. Administrative certificates will only be issued for birth and death certificates. Finally, the SIMSP announced that it will boycott administrative and training meetings, as well as any medical coverage of events that do not meet the requirements of the ministerial circular governing medical coverage of events.
