Under the two previous Walloon presidencies, it was not uncommon to organize parliamentary work meetings and informal discussions in large restaurants. There were no rules governing these gastronomic encounters.

L“good food and good wine rejoice the heart of the gastronome”: just as much that of certain regional parliamentarians, could have completed the French chef and pastry chef Antonin Carême. The evening was able to identify 46 meals bringing together, between January 2017 and August 2022, the former clerk Frédéric Janssens and deputies. For the main part of the members of the Bureau and the extended Bureau. For a total cost of 31,000 euros, or 130 euros on average per guest.

“There is no budget item dedicated to the representation costs of members of the Bureau, no regulations provide for it,” explains the current president of parliament, André Frédéric (PS). Specifying that since taking office in December 2022, parliamentary meetings are no longer held at midday.
