Womex is the largest European event dedicated to world .

Bringing together 2,850 professionals including 490 artists, it reflects the issues that shape the global music industry.

Its thirtieth edition was organized in Manchester.

This was his mantra at its creation: Forward in all directions. It has been three decades since Womex (a contraction of World Music Expo) became a sort of Champions League for world music, the flame of which stops in European capitals.

In the lobby of Manchester Central, between the buildings with sparkling windows and the red bricks of the warehouses which recall the industrial past of this textile city, 2,850 music professionals from more than 45 countries converge, like salmon. Braving diplomatic roadblocks, cascades of political crises and expensive visas, they come for four days to exchange, celebrate and vibrate to the sounds of this high mass of world music. Conferences, showcases and documentaries punctuate this stimulating effervescence and act as a sounding board for the issues specific to the global music industry…
