Diving in Bolivia with Bernard Bruel, director and Indian flute enthusiast. His film, mixing music, culture and landscapes, reveals a country vibrant with colors and traditions. An invitation to discover the richness of the Andes and their unique musical history.
Originally from Yenne, Bernard Bruel, director and amateur musician, presents his film dedicated to Bolivia. It all began as a teenager when he discovered Andean music, falling in love with the Indian flute. This passion leads him to explore the Andes, to learn music there, and to immerse himself in a culture where each note has a deep meaning. The flute is much more than an instrument: it punctuates the agricultural seasons and traditional rituals. Fascinated, Bernard decides to film these practices to capture not only the music, but also the colors.
The documentary, presented with the support of Connaissance du Monde, goes beyond music. It celebrates Bolivia’s cultural wealth and highlights the links between music and nature. Bernard explains how instruments are used to call rain or wind, traditions still alive in the countryside. Warmly welcomed by local musicians, Bernard has forged strong ties with Andean communities.
