UNITED STATES – In his presidential campaign, Joe Biden intensifies his fight against Donald Trump. For the first time, the American president described his rival as “delinquent” since the guilty verdict rendered Thursday by the courts in New York in the historic criminal trial of the former Republican president.

“For the first time in American history, a former president who is a convicted offender is running for president”declared Monday June 3 during a fundraising evening in Connecticut the Democratic president, who will face his predecessor on November 5 for the presidential election.

“As disturbing as this may be, his all-out offensive on the American justice system is even more harmful”added Joe Biden, saying that the campaign was “entering unfamiliar territory last week”.

For the Democratic president, Donald Trump would pose an even greater threat to American democracy if he wins the White House again in November.

“Something broke inside this guy for real” after his defeat in the last presidential election, launched Joe Biden. “It literally drives him crazy”he added.

“What kind of man says that?” »

Joe Biden also castigated Donald Trump’s statements, saying on Sunday that a prison sentence could be “a breaking point” for his supporters.

These words have a particular resonance in a country still marked by the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, when supporters of the Republican tried to prevent the certification of the presidential victory by Joe Biden.

“He says if he loses, there will be bloodshed in America. What kind of man says that? »the Democrat said Monday.

Joe Biden’s only previous comment on Donald Trump’s guilty verdict was made Friday at the White House, when he said that “no one is above the law” – without going so far as to qualify him as a delinquent.

From the start, the Democrat’s campaign team played a balancing act around Donald Trump’s legal woes – not venturing to attack him head-on on this subject. It is now done.
