PlayStation, Game Boy, PSP, Nintendo Switch, Xbox… Over the last 30 years, game consoles have managed to find their place in our living rooms, but also in our pockets, with the arrival of smartphones. Through different universes, historical wars or even popular sports, the video game industry knows how to please. Here are the best-selling video game franchises in the world.

Contrary to what one might think, the best-selling game in the world is not FIFA or Grand Theft Auto, but… Minecraft! Developed by Mojang Studios in 2011, it has sold nearly 300 million copies (sales record). What makes it successful are its simple graphics that break down barriers between countries and generations. The map covers 4 billion square kilometers and promotes creativity.

Now that you know that Minecraft is number 1, here is a list of video games that have also shattered sales:

It was the PlayStation 2 (Sony) which created a real tidal wave in the world of video games… It has sold more than 155 million copies! It is still the best-selling console in the world today. In second place, we find the Nintendo DS, which has attracted more than 154 million buyers. 3rd place goes to the Nintendo Switch, this portable console which created a small revolution by offering the possibility of playing everywhere!
