Last September, Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille was back for a 10th edition in the sumptuous Domaine du Château de Chantilly. Decorated with different International competitionswith prizes awarded to exceptional cars judged according to their classes, their history, their state of conservation or even their rarity, it was a must for the few 1000 cars exposed. L’unique and relaxed atmosphere of a Sunday in the French countryside delighted the few 28,000 visitors who had made the trip.
The SM Tributes at the Concours d’Elégance
Born in France during the 1920s, the Concours d’Elégance offered a unique opportunity for bodybuilders and tailors to show their know-how. At Chantilly, the philosophy remains the same: the builders present concepts, making a bridge between past and futurealongside new products from major fashion houses. This competition is in line with the events organized at Pebble Beach or to Villa d’Estearound the French art of living during an exceptional weekend in the countryside, near Paris.
Partner since the first edition in 2014, DS Automobiles presented the SM Tribute, celebrating ten years of art and elegance. Designed by the DS Design Studio Paris, the SM Tribute is a modern reinterpretation of the iconic versionincorporating current design elements. Born in the early 1970s, the SM already embodied the pinnacle of French automotive innovation, with a ligne sleek and avant-garde aerodynamics. Today it remains a cult model, sought after by collectors around the world. “ We are working on the genes of our emblematic models to fuel our research on the silhouettes of future models that will arrive at the end of the decade », Confided Thierry Metroz, Styling Director of DS Automobiles. « And 2020, nour community sent us several strong messages: lThe first was that she was very attached to the emblematic models of our heritage, the second was that she wanted the original design not to be distorted. This year,our presence in Chantilly with SM TRIBUTE testifies to this desire. »
A tribute to SM and a very current style study
The message sent by the DS Automobiles community has been heard. The teams of DS DESIGN STUDIO PARIS worked as if SM had continued to evolve over the past five decades.
This lightness, suggesting dynamism and efficiency, is found throughout the silhouette both slender and muscular de SM TRIBUTE. There direct lineage is strongly marked with an emblematic front end and a profile dominated by a long hood… An emblematic model which, this year again, will be the strength of the group with, we can bet, the same success as its predecessor.
