“The violence of the left, again and again”: Georges-Louis Bouchez reacts to the damage to the MR headquarters

“The violence of the left, again and again. For many weeks the left has been very nervous to see public opinion shift once again. They act with violence and intimidation without hesitating to exploit the conflict in the Near -East,” said the president of the liberal party.

Mons, the city of which Bouchez dreams of becoming king: will he achieve his goals?

On Friday, the MR headquarters was “again, violently targeted with a window broken with a hammer, smoke bombs and tags, each more hateful than the other”, he laments. According to Bouchez, it is the work of “ignorant little scum who are struggling to exist, so-called anti-fascist and pro-Palestinian activists”.

“The administrative management of this event also raises questions”, this having been tolerated by the mayor of Saint-Gilles, Jean Spinette (PS). “Instead of blocking these demonstrators, who must have numbered around a hundred, we preferred to watch them wander around and break,” points out Mr. Bouchez.

He assures that he will “personally” take all initiatives to determine responsibilities, “no longer able to tolerate that in Brussels and Wallonia it is the thugs who make the law”.

Concerning the conflict in the Middle East, the MR is “the only political formation with a balanced approach, recognizing Israel’s right to defend itself, in particular against terrorist organizations, while condemning excessive responses and demanding a cease -immediate fire,” assured its president.

Police patrols around the MR headquarters

Police patrols will be specially deployed this weekend around the headquarters of the MR, the Brussels-Midi police zone told the Belga agency on Saturday morning. The Liberal Party building was vandalized Friday evening during a mobilization for a ceasefire in Lebanon and Palestine.

The police zone explains that during the demonstration on Friday evening, certain people entered the crowd, before putting tags on the facade and throwing stones, causing “a few holes in the windows”. “We are directing patrols this weekend so that they make regular passes around the MR headquarters – this in order to avoid further potential damage,” she concluded.
