JUSTICE – Three police officers from the 5th and 6th arrondissements of must be tried soon after three episodes of violence in which they are suspected of being involved to varying degrees, AFP learned from a judicial source this Saturday, October 5, confirming information from Release.

On Friday, two of these police officers, Maxime D., and Clément B. were referred to the public prosecutor’s office after being held in police custody in the company of a third man, Clément B’s brother. They will be tried on March 20 by the Paris Criminal Court for acts of violence in meetings which did not result in incapacity for work.

A brawl occurred on the morning of May 4 in the 5th arrondissement in front of a pub in Saint-Michel. A local resident called the police, then later transmitted videos which made it possible to identify two officers from the police station in this district who were then off duty.

Slanderous denunciations

According to the same source, with another police officer, Matthieu D., Maxime D. must also be tried on October 29 for suspicion of aggravated willful violence committed on three occasions on July 25, in the 5th and 6th arrondissement police station. , on a person in custody, which caused him to fracture his forearm.

Maxime D. had filed a complaint against the person in custody denouncing violence against him, which resulted in him also being judged for slanderous denunciation.

Clément B., already cited in the pub’s file and who was station manager on the evening of July 25, must also be tried on October 29 for this second case for slanderous denunciation and failure to assist a person in danger. Release had revealed videos of these facts in September.

Police officers involved in several other cases

Another police officer pleaded guilty to slanderous denunciation on September 20 and has already been sentenced to six months in prison, while the prosecution has yet to rule on the cases of other police officers present.

On October 29, Maxime D. will also be tried for a third case: at the end of June 2022, he is suspected of having sprayed tear gas five times in the face of a woman he was to accompany after refusing to take complaint.

The judicial control of Maxime D. and Matthieu D. prohibits them from exercising any public function and from entering into contact with their colleagues, and with Clément B., they are prohibited from carrying a weapon. All three have a duty of care.
