A resident of Var, who died in February 2024 at the age of 95, bequeathed 2.5 million euros of his heritage to the town of Tourrettes. A legacy subject, however, to a single condition.
Marcelin Arthur Chaix, a resident of Tourrettes, in the Var, a small town not far from Grasse, left 2.5 million euros to the municipality when he died at the age of 95 in February 2024, according to information of Var-matin.
What condition?
The nonagenarian, however, issued only one condition in return: to build a reception center for the elderly.
“It is not a nursing home but a small structure, a living and meeting place for seniors, who often face loneliness”explains a municipal agent to Figaroconfirming that the wish of the deceased will indeed be granted.
“A daycare for the elderly”
According to the regional daily, elected officials agreed that this new structure would integrate the existing structure of the house of associations. Work to expand and beautify the structure will be carried out. Three new people could be recruited for this place that the donor, Marcelin Arthur Chaix, had imagined as a “daycare for the elderly”.
The structure will accommodate ten people and should open before 2026, according to BFM.
