During his appearance on the podcast Lipps Service With Scott LippsIconic Slayer guitarist Kerry King has revealed what he considers to be the “perfect” albums from some of his favorite artists. True to his roots in Heavy Metal, he notably cited Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, AC/DC and Metallica.

Kerry King's picks: an ode to the classics

When asked to name albums he considers “perfect”, Kerry King clarified:

  • Judas Priest : Stained Class
    “I would not choose British Steel, but Stained Class. This is the album where Judas Priest found the sound that would define the band.”
  • Black Sabbath : Sabotage
    “This album has something special. Maybe [à cause de la chanson] Symptom Of The Universe. I don't know. It’s non-stop badass.”
  • AC/DC : Powerage
  • Iron Maiden : The Number Of The Beast
    “It's a tough choice between Killers and The Number Of The Beast, but from start to finish the latter is stronger.”
  • Metallica : Master Of Puppets
    “An incredible record.”

King's influences in his solo career

Since the release of his first solo album, From Hell I Risein May 2024, Kerry King continues to salute these artists through his . In recent performances in Australia, he even included a cover of Killers of Iron Maiden in his sets, paying tribute to former Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno.
