Since the public discovered his touch of madness in “Nouvelle Star” in 2007, Julien Doré has established himself lastingly in the hearts of the French with five albums selling more than two million copies. The artist has even succeeded in his transition into an actor since the series “Panda”, in which he plays the leading role, broke audience records in 2023 on TF1. A season 2 is coming to the air very soon to the delight of viewers! With a busy 17-year career, the singer of “Coco Câline” wanted to return to the roots of his encounter with the French through an album of covers mischievously named “Imposteur”. “ I still have the impression, every day, that everything is so much due to this stroke of luck at the time, that I can’t see the time passing and realize that there are albums, tours , and time passing. On a daily basis, when I’m at the piano, guitar or ukulele, rather than playing my own songs or writing new ones, I often play covers » explains Julien Doré in an interview with Purecharts, revealing the genesis of this very particular project on which he sings the words of Dalida (“Die on stage”) as much as those of L5 (“All the women in your life”).

Platinum disc in less than two months!
And as soon as it was released, “Imposter” was a success. Accompanied on the airwaves by his cover of the hit “Pourvu qu’elles sont éclairs” by Mylène Farmer, the album went straight to number one in sales with 32,500 fans won over in the space of seven days. A very solid start testifying to the great reception reserved for this record, which has never left the top 5 best-selling albums each week since its release. Better: the end-of-year holidays, generally marked by an increase in record sales around Christmas, fully benefited Julien Doré. Thus, the 42-year-old singer returns to second position in the Top Albums for the last ranking of 2024, thanks to 13,100 purchases recorded. Which allows the artist to cross the symbolic threshold of 100,000 sales!
With precisely 106,500 music lovers won over, Julien Doré only took seven weeks to add a new platinum disc to his collection. A great performance in the difficult context of the music market, where French variety is suffering from the collapse of physical sales. All of his albums, with the exception of “Bichon” (2011), have crossed the fateful milestone of 100,000 copies sold. And “Imposter” still has energy in reserve. In addition to a multitude of singles to exploit (its superb cover of “Yeux de la mama” would be perfect for winter), the record will undoubtedly be boosted by the launch of Julien Doré’s new Zénith tour, for which more than 250,000 places have already been sold. Kick-off scheduled for March 1st in Aix-en-Provence!
