Among the artists who have been the most talked about in the rap game over the last 20 years, we can name Gimswithout too much difficulty. A strange top 3, but with very good rappers
The rapper was this week invited to the microphone of a famous competing rap radio station, in a show hosted by Fred Musa. Gims was encouraged by the host to reveal his top 3 of the best French rappers, as for bounce back from the buzz triggered by Gims himself in his video with Lorisin which he says he'll take anyone's microphone. Unsurprisingly, Meugi himself ranks first in his top 3, as the best French rapper in history.
In second place, he places another comrade from the Assault Sexion, like him: Lefawho is also recognized and validated by everyone as an excellent kicker, who unfortunately decided to stop rapping some time ago. In third position, Gims puts Nirowith whom he has already collaborated on the song “Ceci n’est pas du rap” in particular. A choice not necessarily surprising when we know that, by Gims' own admission, Niro is one of the artists with whom he felt the most in difficulty in terms of rap.
Obviously, we are not not so much in agreement with his ranking, which only focuses on the last 15 years of the rap game it seems, even if the ranking only contains very good artists. We also find that it is cheeky to declare himself the best rapper, because we sold 4 times 1 million albums consecutively, when this million was largely made with pop hits rather than with rap titles. But everyone sees noon at their door! In any case, we know a rapper who might not miss this opportunity to provoke Gims…
