Jeffrey Nothing, former singer of Mushroomhead, is preparing the launch of a new group which would take the essence of the formation he co-founded in 1993. An intriguing announcement which could reignite the rivalry between the current and past members of the group.

A difficult breakup with Mushroomhead

Jeffrey Nothing was an iconic figure in Mushroomhead for 25 years, from its inception in 1993 until his departure in 2018. However, relations between the founding members still appear strained: earlier this year, Nothing filed a lawsuit against Steve “Skinny” Felton, drummer and co-founder of Mushroomhead, regarding a copyright dispute.

Despite this stormy context, Nothing is looking to the future and plans to launch a new version of the group that suits it more.

“The band we always should have been”

In a recent statement on social media, Nothing announced: “My as yet unnamed version of Mushroomhead… coming soon. This will be my new vision for the group I co-founded. I will be the only singer to return. The lineup will include a new bassist, keyboardist and co-lead vocalist. Former members will play guitar and, sometimes, drums.”

Nothing also expressed a certain independence from past constraints: “We will be the group we always should have been. We will do whatever we want, and no one, even the [autres] members, will not tell us what to do.”

La possible implication de Tommy Church

Among the former members mentioned, rumors point to Tommy Church, ex-guitarist of Mushroomhead and current collaborator of Jeffrey Nothing in his solo project. If his participation is confirmed, it would strengthen the links between this new group and the legacy of Mushroomhead.

As of now, the name of the project and other details remain unknown, but fans of Nothing and Mushroomhead are eagerly awaiting further announcements.
