Chuu won its latest case against Blockberry Creative.
In August 2023, the former LOONA member had seen the courts rule in her favor in the dispute opposing her to the agency. The lawsuit existed because BlockBerry Creative had tried to block Chuu’s activities by refusing to release her from her contract, which had prompted the young woman to request the cancellation of her former contract with the company due to illegal profit sharing and breach of trust.
The Court thus ruled in favor of Chuu to grant him the cancellation of his contract with BlockBerry Creative and allow him to continue his activities on his side without interference from the agency. The agency appealed, but Chuu again won the battle against BlockBerry Creative during this appeal trial.
This June 27th was the last hearing of the trial to obtain the final decision in this case, and the Supreme Court upheld the court’s decision in favor of Chuu, rejecting Blockberry Creative’s appeal to keep Chuu’s exclusivity contract.
Unless there is a specific legal reason, such as proof of illegality in the court’s decision, the case will not be referred to court.
Furthermore, the court cited the case of LOONA’s most lucrative year in 2019, where, despite a turnover of approximately 2.88 billion won (1.9 million euros), only 1 .1 billion won (740,000 euros) was recorded, leaving Chuu without any settlement. BlockBerry challenged the decision, but the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court both upheld the original decision, finding it legally sound.
In a similar vein, LOONA’s Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsol, and Choerry won their recent lawsuit against BlockBerry Creative.
