The Glastonbury Festival, a must-see summer event in England, ended on Sunday, with performances by Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Seventeen and Louis Tomlinson.

The most famous festival in England was held from June 26 to 30 in Glastonbury, in the southwest of the country. This year again, the venues brought together hundreds of thousands of festival-goers, who, often wearing boots and raincoats, this time enjoyed the radiant sunshine. Avril Lavigne, Janelle Monae, Camilla Cabello… the lineup was as varied as it was promising. A look back at four moments that marked this edition.

Dua Lipa, the superstar

Dua Lipa has a knack for putting her audience into a trance. The superstar was expected on Friday night on the main stage. Delivering hit after hit, from « Training Season » has « Houdini »Passing by « New Rules »she transformed the wasteland into an open-air discotheque of enthusiasm. Twenty songs, five outfit changes, and dozens of smiles later, the star had finally achieved her dream. “I wished for it, I dreamed for it, and I worked very hard,” she assured behind her microphone in front of the 100,000 people gathered to applaud her.

Legendary Louis Tomlinson

The festival had indicated that there would be no replays of Euro 2024 matches, even if England or Scotland qualified. But there is one festival-goer who could not have missed a single Three Lions match. So, on Sunday June 30, Louis Tomlinson, singer of One Direction, arrived with a giant screen that he ingeniously installed in the middle of the campsite.

“It was a bit iffy at times because the signal kept getting garbled,” he told the BBC. « Luckily, we won the match! ». What to crown « Tommo » king of Glasto.

Coldplay, l’incontournable de Glastonbury

With their new appearance at the festival, Coldplay officially became the band to have headlined Glastonbury the most times. Not counting their side stage shows in 1999 and 2000, the British band have taken over the legendary Pyramid Stage five times, in 2002, 2005, 2011, 2016 and 2024.

Chris Martin and his band are at home here and proved it once again in front of a packed crowd. Unmissable in their discography, fireworks, pacifist calls and… the surprise arrival of Michael J. Fox who provided a guitar solo on the heartbreaking “Fix You”, the group delighted the festival-goers.

SEVENTEEN Makes History

For the first time in its history, Glastonbury had invited a K-Pop group. SEVENTEEN was given the mission of providing the show on the main stage on Friday afternoon. Accompanied by live musicians, the thirteen artists had designed a show tailored to their eclectic audience. Focusing on tWith their pop/rock roots and catchy choruses, they also released a few English tracks from their discography, including the brilliant “2 MINUS 1” and “SOS”, produced by Marshmello and sung for the first time on stage.

The record-breaking band performed on stage with their characteristic perfection. And when it was time for the last song, “Very Nice,” a classic end-of-concert staple, the audience, now won over, joined in and sang the chorus until SEVENTEEN decided to leave the stage. A flood of praising comments greeted their performance. When’s the next one?
