An excerpt from Céline Dion’s documentary film reveals her in the midst of spasms. A moving vulnerability from the Canadian diva who has suffered from stiff person syndrome for more than two years.

She chose to show everything. Through her documentary “I am: Céline Dion » released on Amazon Prime Video this week, Celine Dion reveals the ups and downs of her time away from the spotlight. One extract in particular shows her at her lowest point, in the midst of spasms linked to her illness (stiff person syndrome) from which she has suffered for two years.

For more than ten minutes, Céline Dion suffered a strong seizure which left her paralyzed and in tears. Her doctors then tried to relieve her using a nasal spray and Valium (a treatment which could have cost her life, according to her). Upsetting images that are difficult to watch for fans who salute her courage and appreciate her touching vulnerability.

Celine Dion, soon back

Throughout her documentary, Céline Dion lifts the veil on her illness. She, who had chosen to withdraw from public life to heal in peace, surrounded by her three boys, explains and demonstrates with the help of images how her spasms constrain her daily: when she sings, when she cooks or when ‘she walks. During one of her many medical evaluations, she confided to her doctor how embarrassing and frustrating it was to no longer be able to control her own body.

But the state of health of the interpreter of “All By Myself » reassures more and more. In recent months, Celine Dion has been seen in concert in Las Vegas, at hockey matches in Canada or on stage at the latest Grammy Awards. Supported by her sons, René-Charles (23 years old) and the twins Eddy and Nelson (13 years old), the singer affirms that she will soon be back: “I’m going to come back on stage. I don’t know when, but I’m going to come back on stage. »
