“We have a problem…”: Couac during the farewell to Françoise Hardy at Père-Lachaise, Thomas Dutronc’s tribute disrupted

Died at the age of 80 on June 11, 2024, Françoise Hardy was cremated at the Père-Lachaise crematorium in Paris a few days later, on June 20. Her son Thomas Dutronc was able to count on the presence of many personalities close to his mother during this ceremony which he imagined with great love and tenderness. However, on the big day, Jacques Dutronc’s son – the 81-year-old singer was accompanied by his partner Sylvie during the funeral – had to deal with several hiccups which slightly disrupted the tribute he had organized.

According to our colleagues at Paris Matchwhile those close to the artist heard the title The time of love followed by a few words from Françoise Hardy, a sound problem arose, embarrassing Thomas Dutronc. “Okay so we have a problem, the tape is in fast motion and we don’t know how we’re going to get out of it“, he then hastily declared to the audience.

After a few minutes, he came back and explained, a little embarrassed: “Well, we’re going to try again, so broadcast two last songs including So Many Beautiful Things that she wrote for me. And then she goes up there.“Words he uttered while pointing to the top of the dome.”I understand why she stopped the scene.” he concluded with humor as reported Paris Match.

A ceremony that would have made Françoise Hardy laugh

Finally everything returned to order and Françoise Hardy’s coffin left the scene to the song Personal message. “That’s it, she didn’t want a ceremony but I’m sure this one would have made her laugh“, commented Thomas Dutronc, a little confused by the situation which would surely have amused his late mother (whose ashes should rest in a few days in Corsica).

A tribute where many stars were present including Jean-Marie Perier, ex-companion of Françoise Hardy, Patrick Modiano, La Grande Sophie, Etienne Daho, Dave and his husband Patrick Loiseau, Julien Clerc and his wife Hélène, Laurent Voulzy and his son Julien, Calogero, Nolwenn Leroy, Marc Lavoine, Sheila, Anouchka Delon, Nadine Trintignant, Gabriel Yared, François Ozon, Louis and even Matthieu Chedid.
