God War composer Bear McCreary collaborates with Corey Taylor (Slipknot) and Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) on new album The Singularity

Acclaimed composer Bear McCreary, known for his work on God War, The Walking Dead and Godzilla, has ventured into the realm of Symphonic Metal with his latest solo album, The Singularity. The album notably includes collaborations with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Meshuggah’s Jens Kidman, who add a powerful touch to McCreary’s signature sound.

The Singularity is a star-studded work, with McCreary enlisting the talents of heavy music luminaries such as Slash, System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, and more. The album marks the culmination of McCreary’s passion for fusing hard rock, symphonic scores and dramatic storytelling into a cohesive whole.

McCreary describes the album as an “epic rock concept album” that he began designing at the age of 15. Recalling his creative journey, he says: “I spent the next three decades trying to perfect it”. The album features a mix of new compositions and reinterpretations of McCreary’s early musical projects, with special guest appearances from notable guests.

Standout tracks from The Singularity include Leviathan, featuring Corey Taylor, and Roko’s Basilisk, featuring Jens Kidman. These two tracks showcase McCreary’s masterful orchestration and the vocal prowess of Taylor and Kidman, respectively.

In addition to the album release, McCreary will unveil a tie-in graphic novel on May 8, which explores the narrative of The Singularity. Physical copies of the album will be available starting May 10, coinciding with a one-off concert at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles on May 12.
