Aaron Taylor-Johnson chases Russian
An appetizer which introduces us to Kraven, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (The Fall Guy, Bullet Train), deep inside a Russian prison. He is in the middle of tracking down a man named Seymon Chorney, leader of the Kirov gang, and he obviously knows where to find him.
This handful of minutes also poses some essential elements for understanding the character for neophytes: he is a killer with superhuman abilities (extraordinary strength, endurance and dexterity) and with a keen sense for tracking down his targets. He is also and above all surrounded by a particular aura, and the myth of the hunter Kraven is already well established in people's minds.

Alongside Taylor-Johnson, the cast includes Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Alessandro Nivola and Christopher Abbott. Real name Sergei Kravinoff, Kraven the Hunter is a Marvel anti-hero that Spider-Man fans know well. Indeed, he is one of Peter Parker's toughest enemies, and would like to add the Spider-Man's head to his collection.

Collar The Hunter is therefore part of Sony's precious Spider-Verse, still separated from Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU), which recently produced Venom 3 and the most convincing Spider-Man : Across the Spider-Verse.
It is rare that a production of this scale reveals so much, and Sony's decision to share the beginning of the film as is raises some questions. Would the studio be afraid of a flop?
It is more than likely, especially since Collar The Hunterwhich is due to be released in American theaters on December 13, will face tough competition with the presence of the behemoths Vaiana 2, Wicked et Gladiator 2 opposite and not very encouraging launch projections.
Analysts are thus announcing a first weekend of Collar The Hunter around 20-25 million dollars. It is certainly above 15 million Madame Web at the start of the year, but far from the 39 million turnip Morbius in 2022. The film, whose budget is estimated at 130 million, was initially scheduled to be released in August 2024 before being pushed back to mid-December by Sony.
