VAN RYSEL, the Flemish brand specializing in high performance bikes and equipment, presents its new XCR TRI triathlon bikes. Co-designed with Swiss Side, an aerodynamic specialist with more than 50 years of experience in Formula 1, the XCR bikes illustrate the expertise of the VAN RYSEL development teams and push the limits of aerodynamic performance on two wheels.
A bike that required the work of 20 people over 36 months with a total of 14 iterations. Bikes which benefited from the work carried out on the UCI XCR used by the riders of the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale team. Two arrangements are offered, at €6,200 and €7,700.
Designed to defy the wind
Designed for speed, the XCR range bikes offer minimal air resistance, making them among the fastest triathlon and time trial bikes on the market. The XCR is the result of 36 months of rigorous development, from early 2021 to October 2024, involving 14 prototypes and numerous iterations to refine every aspect of the bike's performance. Each frame is made up of 486 carbon parts, illustrating the precision and attention to detail that guided every step of its design.
Earlier this year, the UCI XCR Time Trial was launched and has already shone at the highest level, winning gold medals with Ben O'Connor at the UCI World Championships and Bruno Armirail at the French Time Trial Championships. -the-watch. All three models have been designed with Swiss Side, with every line and angle of the bike tested in the laboratory and in the field, ensuring the maximum reduction in air resistance.
For the XCR model, High Modulus fibers have been selected. Depending on needs, each area of the bike uses different types of fibers. For example, certain areas may favor lightness over rigidity, and vice versa. Three main types of fibers were chosen: 40T, 30T and 24T.
Swiss Side
Founded in 2014 by Jean-Paul Ballard, former Chief Design Officer of the Sauber F1 team, Swiss Side has used its know-how to develop the most innovative aerodynamic wheels and frames on the market. Having conducted extensive wind tunnel testing in collaboration with Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale team time trial specialists Bruno Armirail, Clément Berthet and Felix Gall, the XCR has been designed from the ground up so that every aspect of performance is evaluated and optimized to offer a competitive advantage thanks to its aerodynamics.
No details left to chance
The frame of the XCR TRI Ultegra Di2 is made of high modulus carbon fiber, with a weight of 1490g for the frame and 490g for the fork in size M, which allows this bike to meet the demands of high-level cyclists or triathletes. level. The attention to detail, not only in how the bike cuts through the wind, but also in its responsiveness and feel, makes this bike ideal for going fast over almost any distance and terrain.
Since position on the bike is essential for performance, VAN RYSEL, in its quest for the ultimate time trial and triathlon bikes, understood that adaptability is crucial to achieving the perfect position. It is with this in mind that the new XCR TRI Ultegra Di2 and XCR TRI Rival AXS models are equipped with a VAN RYSEL cockpit allowing a multitude of adjustments, so that each cyclist can maximize their efficiency and comfort. For its part, the UCI XCR is equipped with Deda Jet One extensions, allowing athletes to adopt the best possible position while respecting UCI regulations.
Designed for Triathlon
Two-time European Ironman Champion Denis Chevrot also played a key role in the development of VAN RYSEL's XCR TRI, ensuring the bike meets all the needs of an Ironman athlete. An important feature of the XCR TRI Ultegra Di2 is the toolbox which contains a multi-tool, inner tube and tire levers, for any mechanical problem on the road.
Additionally, a Bento box and waste box have been attached to the top tube, allowing the athlete to store all the nutrition needed for up to 6 hours of riding and get rid of any waste, all while staying in a aerodynamic position.
Finally, regarding hydration, water bottles can be attached both to the cockpit and behind the saddle without impacting the overall aerodynamics of the bike and ensuring that the athlete is well equipped and comfortable, while remaining as aerodynamic as possible.
A compartment integrated into the frame, just above the bottom bracket, allows you to carry a repair kit (included) without compromising aerodynamics. Access is via a hatch located on the opposite side of the crankset, and it contains:
- Lightweight butyl inner tube
- CO2 inflator and cartridge
- Valve extension
- Allen key 6 mm
- Tire levers
