According to Maika Monroe, They Follow (a.k.a It Follows 2) by David Robert Mitchell will be much superior to the first opus, It Follows.
With his horror jewel It FollowsDavid Robert Mitchell surprised everyone a little in 2015. With a relatively open ending, the horror film with Maika Monroe and Jake Weary gave rise to the idea that a sequel was possible for the adventures of the character Jay Height. Ten years after its first broadcast in Cannes, this second opus is indeed a reality and bears the name of They Follow.
With such a title and a great director, the project is more intriguing than most of the sequels and remakes that Hollywood is used to serving us. Although little information is available, we know that Maika Monroe will be back on display. While the actress will face Nicolas Cage as a serial killer in the very intriguing (and creepy) Longlegs by Oz Perkins, she took advantage of the promotional tour to say more about this highly anticipated second opus.
They Follow will be more everything
It was during his appearance on the show Ladies Night from the American newspaper Collider that the actress said more about this sequel which should, according to her, surpass the original in every way:
“David is brilliant. I mean, he’s brilliant. […] It Follows was a game changer in the genre, and he would never make a sequel if he didn’t think it would surpass the first. He is very picky, he refuses a lot of proposals… He knows what he wants to do and what he wants to achieve. At first I was like, “Oh, a sequel? Where are we going to go? » And I read it, and it’s so good. I’m so excited.
I think the place where you will find Jay [Height] at this point might not be what you’d expect, but it’s so cool. Of course, like everyone says about sequels, it’s just bigger, darker, and twisted. Reading the script was the craziest thing ever. […] I’m too impatiente to play this role. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited to dive into something. There’s a lot of material, and I think it will be a challenge, for sure, but it will be so rewarding. »
The end ofIt Followswithout going into details, implied that the entity had survived, and even worse, it was going to spread en masse. The title of this sequel seems to confirm this theory of the worst, since with this “They”, the entity would now have multiplied, which would be much more complex to counter it.
No other information has been communicated regarding the story, the rest of the cast, or even any release date. Maika Monroe, she will in any case be on the poster for Longlegsin cinemas on July 10.
