Here is Télé-Loisirs’ review of this film!

What is worth My future selfthe new Prime Video film with Aubrey Plaza?

An initiatory journey which becomes a pleasant surprise for us critics. If we sometimes have high expectations from certain films, others pass under our noses without us noticing them. And yet, when we pay attention to it, we don't regret having lingered there. My future self is therefore part of this category. This dramatic comedy is simple but, thanks to a well-written and humorous script, we come away touched. While there is a pinch of science fiction – briefly touching on time travel with the meeting of the younger and older Elliot – there is no need to think too much about this supernatural event or seek an explanation for it. This story element serves rather as a pretext for the plot, which is well anchored in reality. The film wants to show that we can put aside the idea that we become wiser as we age (even though that is sometimes the case). Through Elliot's story, we understand that we should not just live for the future we could have, or stay stuck in the past, because the important thing is the present.

My future self on Prime Video: a sincere, funny and touching film

There is a great freedom in not knowing what will happen to us and above all, there is no harm in taking advantage of our naivety or our innocence while we can. We have to be grateful for the good times we experience, or to enjoy the people we care about, because we don't know when one of these moments will be the last. Don't take anything for granted. My future self also shows that we have no control over the passage of time. He won't wait for us. Here are the messages that the film conveys. Friendly, this feature film makes you have a good time. And, if we love Aubrey Plaza, Maisy Stella, who plays the young version of Elliot, is a pleasure to follow. Refreshing and natural, the actress turns out to be funny and sincere. Don't miss it!
