Rebel Moon: a long, uncensored version will be released on Netflix! (Be careful, it will shake)

Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder’s sci-fi blockbuster, caused a sensation when it was released on Netflix in two parts. But the director is not finished with his space opera. A darker, longer and more violent director’s cut version is reportedly in preparation for this year.

Rebel Moon will be entitled to an even more epic and brutal director’s version

According to the site Movie Ratingswhich lists film ratings in the United States, the extended version of Rebel Moon Part One would be titled “Rebel Moon – Chapter One: Chalice Of Blood“.

It has already received an R rating (prohibited for those under 17) for “gory and brutal violence, sexual content, graphic n*dity and strong language“.

This new montage would therefore be much more explicit than the version released on Netflixrated PG-13 (not recommended for children under 13).

Zack Snyder himself warned that his director’s cut would be much darker and violent. He told the podcast I Minutemen that each part would last about an hour longer than the originals, bringing the saga to 6 hours in total. “It’s a more immersive experience, very adult and clearly R-rated“, he clarified.

A new evocative title for a darker and bloodier version

The title “Chalice of Blood” (the chalice of blood) is more surprising but makes sense according to fans.

“Given the bloodthirsty cruelty of the Imperium depicted in the novel, this subtitle works on several levels,” one commented on Twitter. “They are there because they did not want peace, symbolized by the chalice, nor Issa, and they shed blood for that.”

According to Zack Snyder, these extended versions will contain scenes of violent deaths and sex that had been cut to obtain a mainstream rating. We should also learn more about the heroine Kora’s dark past within the Imperium. Enough to satisfy fans of the brutal and epic style of the director of 300.

A release planned for later this year on Netflix

No specific release date has yet been announced for these director’s cuts of Rebel Moon. Zack Snyder hopes they will be available later this year on Netflix. He also mentioned the possibility of a third part to conclude the saga.

In the meantime, both parts of Rebel Moon can be seen now on the platform.
