Cinema: the films you shouldn’t miss in October

October is looming on the horizon. With the weather pushing for more indoor activities, the cinema remains a great option. So let’s take stock of next month’s releases not to be missed.

This new month will get off to a flying start with, on October 2, the release of the sequel to the Joker film. Todd Philips is back at it, just like Joaquin Phoenix who reprises his role as Arthur Fleck (the Joker). Lady Gaga will add a touch of madness in the role of Harley Quinn.

The following week, an animated film serving as a prequel to the Transformers story will arrive in our cinemas. On October 16, it will be a double blow with two new feature films. Two rooms, two atmospheres. The first will be the sequel to Smile. Naomi Scott will play a pop star who will be confronted with many horrors. The second will be Bambi, a live action film which will allow you to (re)discover this cult story from the novel by Felix Salten.

Finally, we will end on October 23 with the third part of the Venom saga. This will conclude the adventures of Eddie Brock, a character played by Tom Hardy.

As always, you can individually add each of these films to your Google, Apple or Outlook calendar. To do this, you just need to press a single button.

Joker: Folie à deux

Todd Philips’ Joker film was supposed to be a one shot. However, the director will do it again with Joaquin Phoenix who reprises his role of Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker. This sequel, however, has the particularity of presenting itself as a musical comedy with a psychological thriller side. It also highlights another well-known DC character, namely Harley Quinn, played here by Lady Gaga.

Transformers One

Michael Bay, through his five Transformers films, has depicted the tug-of-war between Optimus Prime’s Autobots and Megatron’s Decepticons. After two spin-offs entrusted to other directors, the license will take a new turn with an animated film which serves as a prequel. The story will therefore follow the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron during their years on Cybertron, which will allow us to discover the origin of the conflict between Autobots and Decepticons.

Smile 2

Two years after Smile, Parker Finn is back with a sequel putting Naomi Scott in the spotlight. The actress will play Skye Riley, a pop star. As she prepares to do a new world tour, her daily life turns into horror and her past resurfaces. It’s up to her to regain control and avoid being seduced by the smile of death.

Bambi

Whether you know the story via Felix Salten’s novel (1923) or via the Disney adaptation in 1942, you can always (re)discover the legend through a live-action family feature film. This will be an opportunity to relive the trauma of our dear little fawn and his adventure alongside his father, with whom he will learn to survive.

Venom: The Last Dance

After two parts which performed rather well at the box office, Venom is back for a third film whose story should lead to the conclusion of his adventures with Eddie Brock. Tom Hardy returns to the role of the latter while Kelly Marcel takes over from Ruben Fleischer and Andy Serkis on the production side. The question now is: will Spider-Man be there?
