Vaiana 2 is revealed in a new trailer that promises adventure and magic, all in a musical tale. In short, pure Disney.
A sa sortie Vaiana: The Legend of the End of the World had a tidal wave effect on the global box office with a total of $643 million in revenue. Listed in the “Disney Classics”, the film was particularly noted for its original universe taking inspiration from Polynesian mythology (see our review Moana: The Legend of the End of the World), although it has been criticized on certain points.
A sequel had therefore been planned in the form of a series in 2020 according to Jennifer Lee, creative director of the Walt Disney Animation Studio, before big boss Bob Iger announced that the series was reworked into a sequel for a cinema release. And that’s good because a new colorful trailer has just been released.
Moana, The Return
The trailer has the right idea of not saying everything, which allows you to focus more on the festive and magical atmosphere first images. Vaiana announces it: its people must reconnect with the ocean. The trailer is therefore a pretext for a call to adventure, to the discovery of the unknown and to the connection with nature at its most splendid and most dangerous. We find all the poetry of the best Disney, namely the songs, the natural elements which come to life and coexist with the characters as well as majestic storm scenes, purple in color.
Vaiana 2 retains its cast with Dwayne Johnson who returns to Maui and Royal Cravalho (Ralph 2.0, Mean girls: Lolita in spite of myself) who takes over the role of Moana. They will always be assisted by Nicole Scherzinger (Men in Black 3) and Temuera Morrison (The Flash, Aquaman and especially Jango Fett in the saga Star Wars). More importantly, the film is directed by David G. Derrick Jr.who makes his directorial debut and replaces Ron Clements et John Muskerthe fathers of the first Vaianabut above all The Little Mermaid, Aladdin et The Princess and the Frog. For now, the film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 27, 2024.
