After Alain Delon’s death, former employees shared some anecdotes about the actor, with frankness but respect.

The actor, who died on August 18 at the age of 88, also left a lasting impression on his former employees, including his bodyguard, Daniel Broussin, and a former domestic worker, Evelyne Bouvet.

Alain Delon needed a bodyguard. He asked Commander Prouteau, the head of the GIGN and the Security Group of the Presidency of the Republic, to find him the rare bird, and it was Daniel Broussin. The former bodyguard, now 71 years old, confided to “Le Parisien” some of his memories about the actor of “Un flic”.

In this long interview, Daniel Broussin returned to the touchy character of the actor, who easily got angry and held a grudge. But he also recalled good moments of complicity and how funny the Samurai could be. About the weapons, which the actor loved, we learn that he had on him, in a bag, a loaded pistol… And if we believe Daniel Broussin, this could have been dangerous, because the actor, who had served in Indochina, was quite clumsy.

The bodyguard also revealed what Alain Delon took to his grave. Buried, thanks to an exceptional authorization, in his property in Douchy, the 88-year-old actor and producer was surrounded only by hand-picked guests. Daniel Broussin was among those who stood next to Anthony, Anouchka and Alain-Fabien Delon at the funeral of the monument of French cinema. He had told him “that he was part of the family”. With Daniel Broussin’s testimony, we therefore learn that one of the actor’s wishes was to be buried with Poupousshis three-legged cat that he had frozen after his death, had been respected.

One of Douchy’s former cleaning ladies, between 2000 and 2010, Evelyne Bouvet, also recalled moments of her service with “Mr. Delon”. Relations were up and down, depending on the actor’s “mood”.

She remembers the brioche he gave to his little birds. The actor, so elegant in town, paid less attention to his wardrobe in his private life. He would have worn “patched-up espadrilles, with clasps and Scotch tape”. No decorum at the table either, where “ugly cracked plates” were the rule.

The house was not very well maintained, she said. “It was old, all paneling. Pictures, all over the paneling. An old rug under the pool table, the same old TV for ten years. But there were coffee percolators, just like in Parisian cafes. And in his room, nothing but rifles,” she explained.

Alain Delon was a great art collector, but he also collected his personal objects. “He kept everything, photos, stones, objects made by children, drawings, baby clothes,” says the housekeeper who adds: “For cleaning, it was hell. You couldn’t move anything. One day, on a table, I wanted to tidy up in my own way… Misfortune!”

Evelyne Bouvet describes a Delon tired of the world, surrounded by animals, rarely going out except for trips to the local restaurant, but who did not forget to celebrate his 53rd birthday with champagne.

He called her for the last time in February 2023… A very emotional moment for the one who left Alain Delon’s service before the family problems.
