The Barcelona Grand Prix, broadcast this Sunday, November 17 on CANAL+, will crown Jorge Martin or Francesco Bagnaia 2024 MotoGP world champion. On this occasion, our journalist Jules Deremble looks back on this final meeting of the year.

MotoGP

Home stretch of the 2024 season! Which race impressed you the most this year?

The Jerez Grand Prix with the return of Marc Marquez to the podium! This is the first time this season that Marquez fights regularly for victory, against Francesco Bagnaia.

I appreciated the Italian's resistance! Bagnaia stood up to his rival, that day, the Ducati rider showed that he had enormous character and talent. He was the one who won the race, it reinforced his status in the paddock and really launched his season!

How can we not also mention the French Grand Prix, a real popular craze! The fans are incredible, every year they push the limits of what is possible!

A few weeks before the start of the seasonyou announced that Jorge Martin would be one of Francesco Bagnaia's competitors during the season. Do you think Jorge Martin could crack under pressure?

What's great about MotoGP is that you never know what's going to happen!

Martin has a 24-point lead before this last weekend of the season, so on paper, everything seems under control… But be careful because in Malaysia, Francesco Bagnaia fell during the sprint race, while he was dominating until here on the weekend.

If we look at all the data, Martin is the clear favorite to be crowned world champion for the first time in MotoGP! But, because there is always a but in motor sports, we are not immune to a surprise. See you on Friday for the first spins!

Will the change of circuit benefit one of the drivers in the title race?

Both drivers have already had very good results in the past on this track. Francesco Bagnaia won the grand prix this season and Martin has never won in Barcelona in MotoGP.

This year, Bagnaia has bad memories of the sprint race… the Italian fell in the last lap while he was in the lead.

The double world champion has no questions to ask himself, he must win everything and hope for a misstep from his rival. It avoids thinking too much.

For his part, Martin must manage! The Spaniard will try to win the title on Saturday, during the sprint race. This is where he is strongest. If he doesn't succeed, it could put him under pressure, even if he showed us throughout the season that he knows how to manage it very well.

A word on Fabio Quartararo's final position during the Malaysian Grand Prix?

It's nice to see Fabio back in the points and also validates his choice to start a contract with Yamaha. When we see the level of the Aprilia today, we say to ourselves that Yamaha is not that far away and that they will continue to progress! This confirms that Fabio is an excellent driver! Even with a bike that is not yet at top performance level, he manages to achieve a good result.

We also see the progress on Zarco's side, which bodes well for the 2025 season!
