The reigning world champion had however promised the Doctor that he would honour his invitation as soon as he could, implying that he would wait until the end of the season to avoid compromising the achievement of a second world title by a “stupid” fall at a competitor’s!
But Marquez is not the type to back down from the obstacle, nor to take into account the “what will people say”: the n°93 went to Tavullia in Rossi’s “Ranch” just after the , during which his host ironically pushed him into making a mistake by maintaining an extremely high pace!
In the company of drivers such as Francesco Bagnaia, Leon Camier, Loris Capirossi, Luca Marini, Andrea Migno, Franco Morbidelli, Miguel Oliveira, Mattia Pasini, Esteve Rabat and Bradley Smith, Marc Marquez was able to discover Valentino Rossi’s playground.
The only obligations imposed by his employer and his contracts: Marquez was naturally riding a Honda (a CRF450) and wearing equipment in his team’s colours. HRC mechanics were also on hand, no doubt to ensure that his specially prepared bike would turn at a quarter turn against Rossi’s Yamaha YZF450s!
“Great day at Tavullia, thanks guys!”, commented Marc Marquez on his Twitter account, while Valentino Rossi was delighted to have sent gas during this “great day at the Ranch with many very good friends”.
Neither of them, however, specified who won, nor whether a rematch is planned!
