The victory against Roma was the biggest in the club’s history, according to the club manager.
For Elfsborg, Galatasaray awaits next in the Europa League – and the dream of a playoff is very much alive.

The draw was tough in advance.
But Thursday’s huge bang at Borås’ arena means that Elfsborg will have to spend the next few weeks in a playoff spot in the Europa League’s revised series format.
The Borås team has collected three points in two games played and is thus in 16th place in the table. In total, 24 out of 36 teams advance to a knock-out phase.
In a match where Elfsborg impressed, 1-0 against the Italian giants Roma was certainly unexpected – but definitely not unfair.
“Gonna give them a match”
Afterwards, the team and coach Oscar Hiljemark were praised by both the supporters and club manager Stefan Andreasson.
– It must be by far the biggest thing we have done. That little Borås and Elfsborg beat Roma in the Europa League is crazy good, says Andreasson.
When the Europa League rolls on at the end of October, Elfsborg travels to Istanbul to face Galatasaray.
– We have great respect for Galatasaray. At the same time, we will give them a match as well, says centre-back Gustav Henriksson, who was one of the best on the pitch when Elfsborg kept a clean sheet.
Sirius on Sunday
Goalkeeper Isak Pettersson is on the same track.
– We can compete against all teams. We have shown that now in two matches and we have good self-confidence, he says.
At the same time, all Elfsborg citizens who meet the gathered press afterwards are clear that the focus is now on Allsvenskan and this weekend’s opponent Sirius.
– We have a match on Sunday again. Of course we’ll enjoy today, but then it’s full speed again and it’s an important match, says Gustav Henriksson.
