CorSera: A big blow after a strange summer

-

Many AC Milan fans expected the club to be without Ismael Bennacer at the end of the summer. Whilst this has come to fruition, it has not come about in the way that had been imagined, and the Rossoneri.

Since the start of 2024, there have been questions about major departures. Reports quickly went from a Leao-Theo-level sacrifice to one on the level of Bennacer. Therefore, when it seemed like Milan were going to invest in the midfield during the summer, and the Algerian midfielder could be on the way out, it did not come as a shock.

During the summer, there was plenty of interest, but nothing moved anywhere, and neither did Bennacer, who remains at the club, even after some very late possibilities. Of course, this has its repercussions, with a relationship now needing mending.

There will be a lot of time for that to happen, though, as the midfielder recovers from his latest injury. As reported this weekend, the 26-year-old has suffered a new injury during international duty, and Corriere della Sera (via Milan News) reports that he will face 2-3 months sidelined.

The report suggests that he has a calf muscle problemand early suggestions are that he has torn the muscle – making it a third-degree injury. With these injuries, it normally takes a few months to recover, and partnered with the challenges of a ‘strange summer’, it is a huge blow.
