During the night from Friday to Saturday, at 1:50 a.m. a fire broke out on the 1st floor of the building in the living area of the Jonzac fire and rescue center (CIS) with a risk of spreading to the rest of the premises. .
The seven firefighters present on night duty were able to evacuate all the emergency equipment and quickly began fighting the fire.
No firefighters were injured.
Numerous reinforcements were quickly dispatched to the scene for a total of 12 vehicles and 50 firefighters.
The fire was brought under control during the night and was confined to the 150 m2 living area which was heavily damaged.
The municipality of Jonzac made the premises of the gymnasium available in order to constitute a fallback emergency center to ensure the continuity of operational coverage of the sector by nine firefighters.
