Elias, 14, killed for his cell phone in Paris: the partial confessions of the two minor suspects, well known to the courts

After the death of Elias, 14, stabbed to death in the collarbone, two suspects aged 16 and 17 have been questioned since Friday evening by investigators from the 3rd district of the judicial police. According to our information, these two teenagers, well known to the justice system, made partial confessions: they admitted their presence on Friday evening around 8 p.m. near the Jules Noël stadium (Paris soccer.

This is where the young victim allegedly crossed paths with the suspects who fatally stabbed him. According to our information, the teenagers admitted to investigators the attempted violent extortion of Elias' cell phone, but not to having carried out the fatal stabbing.

Identified by a witness on the scene and arrested a few hours after the homicide at their parents' home where they had quickly taken refuge after the events, the two teenagers aged 16 and 17 are already well known to the justice system. The youngest has theft, violent theft and gang theft in his locker. The second is known to the police for theft, violent extortion and for carrying a category D weapon, that is to say a bladed weapon. According to our information, the latter is strongly suspected of being the author of the stabbing to which Elias finally succumbed on Saturday noon.

The two young suspects knew each other since they live in the same complex of buildings but in separate buildings. Both were presented to court on October 30, 2024 in the same violent theft case. They were due to appear in juvenile court in June 2025. In the meantime, they were prohibited from coming into contact or being together.

In March 2024, Le Parisien looked at delinquency in the Parisian districts. It was then noted that incivility such as damage, theft and violence had been noted in the 14th century at the end of 2023 around the Didot and Jules Noël stadiums. “By discussing with social services and sports associations, we identified five young people,” confided Carine Petit, the mayor (PS). We gave them educational support, we helped their families and since then, everything has been better.” Perhaps not for all these young people since, according to our information, the two suspects in Elias' murder are among the five people taken into care at the time.
