Éva Belin and Jean-Marc Lespade, departmental councilors of the canton of Seignanx, presented their wishes in Saint-Barthélemy, in front of 100 people (elected officials, association representatives and institutional partners). Jean-Marc Lespade began as follows: “Local investments with the surge in energy prices, inflation, the rise in interest rates and more recently the downturn in the real estate market have accentuated the difficulties suffered by local authorities “.

“The Departments are bearing the brunt of the strong growth in costs generated by national measures, some of which are partially compensated (SEGUR de la Santé), and for the majority entirely the responsibility of the communities, action towards social assistance for childhood, or even the revaluation of the index point, the increase in social minimums”.

Then the elected official spoke about structuring projects (inter-company restaurant in Tarnos, multidisciplinary health center in St André, Grândola in Tarnos), support for communities, farmers and actions in favor of the environment…

Éva Belin spoke of human solidarity, recalling that 53% of the budget is devoted to it (autonomy, family, early childhood, RSA, integration) but also education, culture, sport and the fight against violence against women.

The XL youth pack was also discussed. Having benefited from driving license assistance, Lisa from Tarnos and Naïka from Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx closed the meeting by discussing their experience as part of their commitment journey within their association actions, meetings, international project.

The elected officials indicated that they were continuing their action to meet the needs of everyone, in these troubled times, in a world torn by wars, in a difficult social context where democracy is suffering and our republican values ​​are being abused. “The strength of a democracy is respect for universal suffrage. »
