“I can't cope with alcohol,” laments this 33-year-old resident of Saint-Brevin during his immediate appearance on Monday January 13, 2025 before the Saint-Nazaire criminal court ( Loire-Atlantique).
Full of good intentions
Although he no longer has a driving license, four days earlier, the defendant got behind the wheel of a friend's car “to be of service”. Aware that he was drunk and that he had seventeen mentions on his criminal record. He actually had 1.04 g per liter of blood.
Beside him, the passenger did not buckle up, which did not escape the police who carried out a check in Saint-Nazaire.
On Thursday evening, when he was released, the judge of freedoms and detention gave him until Monday the 13th to take steps. Which he did, telling the audience: “It woke me up.”
Appearing full of good intentions, he adds: “I’m starting from scratch.”
The prosecutor hears it. Nevertheless, he deplores his numerous convictions, sometimes heavy and harsh:
-“It’s heartbreaking to find this man once again at the helm. He put himself in serious danger… He must turn the page on his traffic crime. »
The public prosecutor is demanding eighteen months in prison with suspended probation. The defense lawyer, Me Catherine Greno, underlines the awareness of the thirty-year-old:
“He saw his GP, went to the Rose des Vents. He knows that he now has a sword of Damocles hanging over his head.”
Stressing that his partner, with whom he has a five-year-old son, is attending the hearing, the lawyer emphasizes that he is the third person of his suffering mother.
The Saint-Nazaire court follows the requisitions of the public prosecutor. In addition to the suspended prison sentence, the repeat offender is prohibited from driving any motor vehicle, is required to obtain his license and will have to seek treatment for his alcohol addiction.
