It has been almost 40 years since the former Hôtel de France exhibited its decrepit facade under the central hall. The municipal team of Franck Villeneuve, mayor of the town of Gimont, aims to plan a reconstruction or rehabilitation of this place in order to offer new activities. Unable to carry out this project alone, the town of Gimont finally decided to rely on the Public Land Establishment (EPF) of Occitanie, to give new life to this emblematic ensemble of the bastide.
The mission of this public establishment consists of carrying – in other words acquiring – land or buildings before transferring them to a community or to the operator mandated by it. The first project, which consisted of creating an artistic and civic third place bringing together the PETR offices, the Community of Communes of Côteaux Arrats and Gimone (Tourist Office) and the municipality of Gimont, around shared cultural spaces, was abandoned. lack of sufficient funding.
Current project
The municipal team is focusing on the search for a private and/or public partner wishing to invest in the Gers commune, according to precise specifications established in advance by the municipality.
