An online press association recently filed a complaint against journalist Aissatou Diop Fall, following comments deemed defamatory made during a broadcast on her YouTube channel.
During this broadcast, the journalist allegedly made virulent remarks, affirming that the members of the association had “nothing like a journalist” and that they were “all Pastef activists”. She also said that these “so-called press bosses” did not master the fundamentals of journalism.
These comments angered the association, which decided to take legal action for defamation. In a statement, members of the association expressed their anger at these accusations, which they consider unfair and offensive, and called for justice to be done.
The affair is already sparking debates in the media, between defense of freedom of expression and respect for professional ethics.
