A prize pool launched in to help students from Mayotte and the Comoros

On the idea of Aurélie Van Den Daele, director of the higher school of the Théâtre de l'Union de – National Drama Center of Limousin, a solidarity fundraiser supported by the students of the school, is launched this Wednesday 15 January, to help students whose families were hit hard by Cyclone Chido.

The school is the only one in to open an integrated preparatory class for ten students from overseas territories. Since its creation in 2018, four students – one from Mahor and three from the Comoros – from Mayotte have followed or are currently following their course at the Théâtre de l'Union in Limoges.

“The money collected is dedicated to their affected families to finance repairs and make essential purchases. This support also aims to allow our students to calmly continue their studies or their artistic career in mainland France, despite the situation. »

Héloïse Belloir (Responsible for the drama training platform dedicated to overseas)

The latter highlights the “difficult situation” of Comorians living in Mayotte, fearful of presenting themselves to the aid measures put in place by the prefecture for fear of being expelled. “Added to this fear are sometimes very critical situations for the loved ones of our students. Some almost died under the mudslides, others must benefit from specific medical care such as dialysis, which has become complicated since the passage of the cyclone. We decided to mobilize to help them. »

The opening of the prize pool is scheduled until the end of February.
