The National Fisheries Office (ONP) indicated that marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products recorded, in terms of value, a growth of 6% to more than 10.54 billion dirhams (MMDH) under the year 2024.
In its recent report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco, the ONP specifies that the weight of these products stood at 1,336,058 tonnes (T), down 1% compared to 2023.
By species, landings of shellfish, algae and crustaceans fell respectively by 91% to 102 T, by 49% to 22,234 T and by 6% to 8,126 T.
By port, a total of 14,105 T of coastal and artisanal fishing products were unloaded in Mediterranean port entrances at the end of December 2024, a decrease of 17%. In terms of value, these ports recorded an increase of 8% to nearly 633.5 million dirhams (MDH).
Regarding ports located on the Atlantic, they fell, in weight, by 1% to 1,321,953 T, while their value increased by 6% to around 10 billion dirhams.
