Morocco is represented at this event by a delegation led by Ms. Fatima Barkan, Secretary General of the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights (DIDH), and including in particular the Deputy Permanent Representative to the Permanent Mission of Morocco in Geneva, Abdellah Boutadghart , and the Director of dialogue and partnership with national associations and organizations within the DIDH, as well as representatives of other relevant institutions.

Ms. Amina Bouayach, president of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), is also taking part in the work of this Congress.

The event’s program includes round tables on topics such as international responsibility for victims of enforced disappearances, strengthening search procedures and the protection of victims, rights defenders, lawyers and journalists.

Also on the menu is a high-level segment which will see States, partners and institutions present a series of “pledges”, commitments aimed at promoting and implementing the objectives of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from enforced disappearances by States parties.

Morocco is a State party to the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances, which it initialed in 2007 and ratified in 2013. Likewise, as the “Core State” of this initiative, the Kingdom campaigns for universal ratification of the Convention.
