Animals – Three days after a little boy was killed by five dogs from the family kennel, the Alaskan malamutes involved in this tragedy were euthanized

Last Thursday, a seven-year-old boy was fatally attacked by dogs from the family farm while he accompanied his mother to feed the animals. A drama which took place in the Belgian commune of Quévy, near the French border. According to the local press, the five dogs involved were ultimately euthanized.

We do not know the reasons which pushed five dogs, Alaskan malamutes, to attack little Aodren. Only that the attack took place when the boy’s mother was giving them food. She tried to intervene between the animals and her son, but the latter was already seriously injured. The child ended up succumbing to the hospital where he was taken in an absolute emergency.

“A convincing risk for public safety”

As part of the investigation opened for manslaughter, the five dogs involved were the subject of an assessment by “two behavioral veterinarians”, assured the mayor of Quévy, David Volant, to the Belgian agency Belga. According to him, it emerged that the animals “presented a convincing risk to public safety”.
