The Democratic Federation of Labor expressed its satisfaction with the government’s openness on its proposed revisions relating to the strike bill.

The president of the Ittihadie Socialist-Opposition Group in the House of Advisors and general secretary of the FDT, Youssef Aïdi, at the head of a delegation from the central trade union, met as part of consultations on the subject of the said project the Minister of ‘Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri. The latter, during his presentation before the education, culture and social affairs committee of the organic bill, expressed the government’s readiness to “interact positively with the majority of the unions’ proposals”, specifying that the trade union organizations have presented practical proposals which will be studied with a view to their inclusion in the bill in question.

Indeed, the government official did not fail to emphasize that the version of the legislative text transmitted to the Chamber of Advisors is “temporary and open to amendments from parliamentary advisors”.

Parliamentary advisor Ittihadi and secretary general of the FDT, indicated at the end of his meeting with the minister that the discussions addressed the accumulations which marked the practice of the right to strike in Morocco “which must not suffer from any restriction in accordance with international conventions in force”, adding that the Constitution of the Kingdom grants pre-eminence to international provisions ratified by our country.
On this, Youssef Aïdi noted that the government has shown itself to be open to all the decisive revisions proposed by the FDT, considering that the draft organic strike law and the union law are complementary in the process of supervising the the union scene and strengthening the roles of union centers.

For his part, the vice-president of the General Union of Moroccan Businesses, Mohamed Fikrat, welcomed this process of meetings and dialogue which was marked by a series of meetings held in a climate of serious and constructive debate, stressing that the law on the right to strike is extremely important because of its crucial connection to the national economic context, investment and company commitments.

Mohame Fikrat also indicated that the objective of the discussions around the strike bill is to succeed in designing a version capable of establishing an overall balance capable of establishing relationships guaranteeing the optimal functioning of the entrepreneurial system. and the fluidity of investment.

As for Younes Firachina, member of the Executive Bureau of the Democratic Confederation of Labor, he emphasized the need to submit all social laws, including the strike law, to dialogue, the content of which is supposed to be framed by negotiations capable of leading to a consensus…

On the other hand, it should be noted that the competent minister, Younes Sekkouri, affirmed, this Thursday in the Chamber of Advisors, that the memoranda presented by the trade union centers “are at the heart of the negotiation process” around the draft Organic Law No. 87.15 defining the conditions and modalities for exercising the right to strike…
