This prestigious event brought together eminent personalities, in the presence of the Wali of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, Younes Tazi, the governor of the province of Fahs-Anjra, Abdelkhalek Marzouki, the Secretary of State responsible for integration social, Abdeljebbar Rachidi, the president of the Regional Council, Omar Moro, the director responsible for the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, the Palestinian ambassador to Morocco, Jamal Choubki, and several journalists, media professionals and cultural and civil society actors, was also marked by a tribute paid to experienced journalists and intellectuals.

The winners in the spotlight

The prize for the best media work promoting the image of Tangier was awarded to Abderrahim Tafnout (2M) for his program “Kan Ya Makane”, which explores the history of the city. At the same time, Abdelkhalek Najmi, writer and translator, won the prize for best cultural work with his book Secret conversations about Tangier.

In the economic category, the Tanger Med Prize for the best economic media work was awarded jointly to Hamza Metioui (Morning) for his article on Tanger Med and Bouchra El Houdaigui (Tamazight channel) for his program devoted to the economic development of the region.

The Tanger Méditerranée Prize for best economic study and research was also awarded jointly to Sofia Fagroud (Chaine Inter, SNRT) for her report on brown algae in the Mediterranean, and to Abderrafie Zaanoun for his study on the governance of migration. in Morocco.

In the migration and Moroccans of the world category, the joint winners are Farhana Ayach (Radio Medi 1), for her program on Moroccans expatriated in Gabon, and Abdellah Tijani (Hespress), for his poignant reporting on the phenomenon of mass migration.

The ceremony was also marked by tributes paid to emblematic figures of journalism and culture in Morocco. Were honoured, among others, Seddik Maaninou, dean of Moroccan journalists, Abdelaziz Boujdaini, secretary general of the communications department, and Abdessamad Bencherif, director of the “Attaqafia” channel.

Other personalities, such as Fatima-Zahra Ouriaghli, vice-president of the National Press Council, Mustapha Akalay, writer and academic director, and Philippe Boulon, writer and journalist, were also praised for their exceptional contributions.

Abdellatif Bensfia, director of the Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC) and president of the jury, highlighted the quality of the submitted works, reflecting the diversity and richness of the city of Tangier. Said Koubrit, president of the Maison de la presse, for his part highlighted the vocation of this prize to promote the image of Morocco and Tangier while encouraging cultural and media actors to continue exploring best practices for promote the region.

This first edition confirmed Tangier’s place as a cultural and media crossroads, while honoring the talents who contribute to its promotion on the national and international scene.
