Dramatic fire near Rouen (Seine-Maritime). This Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. rue du Moulin Saint-Etienne in Elbeuf, the firefighters are called to a fire in an apartment located on the 4th floor.

When the fire fighters arrived, “four children were trapped in the apartment”, specifies the Sdis (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service). Smoke is visible in the common areas of the seven-story building.

Death of a nine-month-old baby

42 firefighters traveled to the scene of the fire. Three children, aged 11, 9 and 4, were rescued using an aerial ladder. All of them, slightly injured, as well as their 36-year-old mother, were transported to the Elbeuf hospital center.

Unfortunately, a nine month old baby diedwas in the fire.

65 people evacuated

A total of 11 people involved in this fire were found unharmed. 65 others were evacuated during the emergency response. They were taken care of by the Elbeuf municipal reserve.

“The tenants of the accommodation impacted by the fire will be rehoused by the lessor,” specifies the Sdis.
