Four years after his first coronation, already on this Pont-Château circuit, Amandine Fouquenet (Arkéa-B&B Hotels) once again adorned itself with the blue-white-red jersey this Sunday during the French Championships cyclo-cross in Pont-Château. She overcame the two other announced favorites, the double defending champion Hélène Clauzel (Van Rysel CX Racing Team) and the young Célia Gery (AS Bike Racing). After a long battle, the 23-year-old Breton finally beat his two competitors in the sprint.

“A great match… It adds extra value to the jersey”
“I’m really happy. It’s not the same scenario as in 2021, there it was until the last moment of the race, I’m really happy to find this jersey again and I hope to honor it in the next races that will happen”said Amandine Fouquenet on arrival. “There was really a big match between the three of us and I think that physically we were really all ready and it came down to mentality. Hélène tried to leave, I came back, Célia did the little jump again to finish and afterwards I attack… so it was really a good match together and until the end It adds extra value to the jersey.”
Fouquenet laid the foundation stone of a perfect day for the Arkéa-B&B Hotels team, since its success was followed by that of Clement Venturini. “I think the team will be happy with us, bringing back two French champion jerseys and among the elites for a year, it’s really great”she concludes.
