The criminal chamber responsible for financial crimes at the Court of Appeal of Fez lowered the curtain, at least at first instance, on the case of a Foundation by judging guilty, Tuesday January 7, five among its six members involved in this affair of embezzlement of public funds.
Thus, the Court sentenced the ex-president and the ex-treasurer of the Foundation to four years in prison with a fine of 40 thousand dirhams each and an education inspector to the Sefrou delegation to two years in prison with a fine of 20 thousand dirhams. As for the two other members of the foundation, namely a student-researcher and a young man in charge of the youth platform which is part of the National Initiative for Human Development and dedicated to supporting young people for employment, entrepreneurship as well as support for social and solidarity economy projects, each of them received one year in prison with a fine of 10 thousand dirhams.
Only one person was acquitted. She is an official at the prefectural council of Meknes.
This affair broke out in January 2024 following financial irregularities noticed by a coordinator who worked within the framework of the government educational support program in Boulemane during his functions which began in May 2022, within the Foundation as part of its management of the public educational support program.
