Seen testing at the end of December in Dubai on the Porsche 911 GT3 R operated by Proton Huber Competition but sporting the now usual number 83 of the Iron Dames, Vanina Ickx joins the program launched by Deborah Mayer for the 2025 campaign.
At 49, the daughter of legend Jacky Ickx will compete in the Iron Dames GT program this season, her exact schedule and the series in which she will be involved remaining to be made official.
“I like to go where I don’t expect, reach the inaccessible and discover what I’m made of,” confesses Vanina Ickx. This year, I will be made of iron! This new challenge, brought to life by Deborah Mayer, is a gift from heaven, even if it will not be easy to put the helmet back on at almost 50 years old. I am very curious to discover the race from this new angle, and enthusiastic at the idea of sharing my experience with the youngest. »
We have to go back to 2011 to find traces of a consistent campaign for the Belgian, then aligned with Belgian Racing and the Ford Matech GT1 in the FIA GT1 World Championship. It was also that year that Vanina Ickx competed for the last time in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Lola-Aston Martin B09/60 shared with Bas Leinders and Maxime Martin. Further, Vanina Ickx notably competed in the DTM in 2006 and 2007.
Note that the Iron Dames also welcome two new young recruits in the person of the Frenchwoman Lisa Billard and the Spaniard Angelina Simons.
Lisa Billard joins the Iron Dames single-seater pole to aim for FFSA F4, when Angelina Simons will compete in karting.
