It was a lightning action, carried out at night, by around twenty farmers from the Haute-Vienne Rural Coordination.
At 9:45 p.m., they came to leave animal corpses in front of the gates of the Haute-Vienne Prefecture.
The farmers only stayed for a few minutes before leaving the area.
Thus, the corpses of a goat, a calf, a pig and around thirty chickens, some of which were hung on the railings, were placed on the sidewalk.
At this time of the evening, very few passers-by witnessed this shocking scene.
No more rendering on farms
A message was posted by the Rural Coordination: “Rendering: peasants hostage”.
Indeed, since January 1, the company which provided the rendering service on farms (removal of dead animals) has lost the market, and farmers are left with the corpses that remain on their farms.
A situation which poses hygiene problems, while waiting for a new service provider.
Only four companies in France provide this rendering service.
In Limoges, this shock action had very little visibility, because the dead animals had to be removed at night, under police surveillance, by the road services.
