In the northern part
Calvados is effectively added to the list of territories mentioned in the context of weather alerts including snow, ice and floods. The department joins its neighbor in Seine-Maritimebut also the Pas-de-Calais, the Somme, the Oise and the North. But the sixth is cited for floods, while the first five are for snow and ice.
A “sufficiently notable” episode
According to Météo France, this part of the country is preparing to face a “non-exceptional winter episode but significant enough to make traffic conditions difficult”. Forecasters are also counting on a “significant flood risk to come on the middle Orne and downstream in Calvados”.
57 in yellow
Alongside these orange alerts is a broad yellow alert, which impacts 57 departments of France. In addition to snow and floods, you have to watchr wind, storms, rain and avalanches. Occitania goes completely through all these phenomena, sincenone of its 13 departments is not cited by Météo France.
